CNN legal analyst Shan is 63 years old and was born on May 13, 1959. 

Furthermore, he is an Attorney, Legal Analyst, Author, and retired boxer. He was born in Westchester County in New York as the single youth of his Chinese immigrant parents. In New York, his parents worked as professors at Hunter College and instructed him in fluent Mandarin Chinese and English.
